Role Summary:

Key leader in creation and execution of the roadmap bridging our current infrastructure to our new strategy and supporting the business transition activities. This position is responsible for the working with horizontal IT organizations n to map Transportation's IT infrastructure globally.

Essential Responsibilities:

With responsibility for network, systems, storage, databases, telecommunications, and monitoring. This position is part of the senior technology leadership team with strong relationships and overlap with Digital Operations (DevOps, Cloud computing), Security (Cyber, SOX) and others--this is an integrated leadership role.

  • Operational: Hands on technical depth in infrastructure that enables direct engagement with multiple teams across CoreTech, provide the oversight related to TRANSPORTATION scope, problem-solving leadership and participation for complex infrastructure changes, system upgrades and operational troubleshooting.

  • Strategic: Manage current state but create a meaningful and understandable roadmap tied to the strategy of the company generally and the technology department specifically. This role will help forecast demand for Infrastructure Architecture services by meeting with individual teams to better understand their needs and drive risk management and optimization strategies. This role will also help determine necessary resource levels to support those business units’ needs as we determine the transition.

  • Advisory: This role will actively lead the creation and updating of Standards and Reference Architectures. Standards may be required to follow regulations or to drive efficiency. Reference Architectures provide direction and guidance on proper compliance with define standards. During performing infrastructure assessments, decisions on optimization modeling and proper service design, structure, and implementation will be required.

  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional peers outside of the Technology Division, including General Counsel, Records Retention, Global Assurance, Enterprise Risk Management, Third Party Risk Management, and other business unit leadership.

  • Lead infrastructure security and risk assessments and assist in planning the remediation of assessment, audit, and regulatory findings.

  • Participate in and contribute to key working groups across the enterprise, including business transition team. Prepare reports for senior management including presentations, metrics, and other documentation required to support governance functions.

  • Driving continuous improvement and maturation of the methods, instrumentation, training, documentation, and processes required to properly assess and govern Infrastructure architecture and software development lifecycle.Day-to-day

  • Strategic Visioning: manage standards and reference architectures to ensure adequate controls throughout technologies

  • Management of the enterprise infrastructure road-map, and communicate vision to business partners and IT staff

  • Actively participates in enterprise architecture visioning to ensure effective utilization of infrastructure capabilities.

  • Act as primary contact and respond to questions or actions related to TRANSPORTATION infrastructure landscape.

  • Ensure that all risk considerations are identified and addressed with new and modified services

  • Support larger architectural projects being executed within the Digital Operations teams.

  • Perform infrastructure security assessments and engage with IT Enterprise Risk team.

  • Provide consultation on secure infrastructure design

  • Manage 30,000 plus compute assets including deployment, lifecycle refresh, image maintenance etc.

  • End User Support services for 10k + employees and contractors for PC, VOIP and Mobile Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in an IT infrastructure leadership role for a mid- to large-sized, global enterprise environment

  • Solid understanding of the technology we use and advances in infrastructure related technologies

  • Operations management experience in a large, 24x7, multinational and multicultural environmentEligibility Requirements:

  • Experience with: service-specific hardware infrastructure (Servers, storage, etc.), network (lan-wan, telco), data center and associated physical plant components, office computing (email, collaboration, office productivity).

  • Demonstrable, impeccable writing skills for technical, management, and executive audiences

  • Demonstrable communication capabilities including oral presentation and ability to present in front of executive leadership

  • Demonstrable experience coordinating multiple concurrent issues, in high-pressure situations

  • Experience with application interdependency and infrastructural design

  • Experience with drafting of standard, reference architecture, policies, procedures and implementation guidelines

  • Build value propositions, business cases, & drive results as part of a larger project or program team

  • Experience with cost/benefit analysis, service and service risk management in the context of the cloud, vendor service level agreements, architectural and design aspects.

  • Previous experience with asset reallocation and value creation in divesting portfolios and carve-out processes. (experience with Transition Services Agreements, separating and migrating data while maintaining data integrity, separating physical networks with minimal downtime, employee connection to networks, etc.)
