The position works under the direction of the Shift Lead and safely performs and provides instructions to team members concerning the maintenance of production equipment in a high volume processing environment in all areas of the plant. Communicates the mechanical issues and principles of the industrial equipment used in the process. Provides hands-on knowledge in the mechanical repair of the industrial equipment for plant operation. Participates in improvement projects, training, EAM, and team development.
Maintenance, Installation, and Repair: Maintain and optimize manufacturing equipment and systems. Identify, diagnose, and/or repair equipment problems that result in production loss. Communicate with others to ensure maintenance and repairs meet operational needs. Maintain equipment, tools, and workstations. Support the installation, customization, or upgrading of equipment. Coordinate the completion of required preventive maintenance activities to ensure production process interruption is minimized.
Problem Solving and Decision Making: Apply higher level of mechanical aptitude and critical-thinking skills to solve problems by generating, evaluating, and implementing solutions. Be familiar with plant processes to work with operation personnel to recognize the existence of a problem. Work as a team to define the problem. Be intimate with all available reference systems to locate and obtain information relevant to the problem (EAM). Identify potential causes of the problem by analyzing its component parts.
Actively support WCM Problem solving teams on small projects with mechanical engineering design solutions. Provide support with WCM events with the plant personnel to maintain efforts on continuous improvement. WCM task and program maintenance and achieve KPI metrics.
Safety training, team development, progressive discipline program compliance, policy and procedure training/compliance. Must adhere to the Principles of conduct and maintain these values within the workforce. Understand and follow established personal safety, security, and environmental practices. Ensure that equipment is being used safely. Comply with local, federal, and company health, safety, security, and environmental regulations. Identify unsafe or insecure conditions and take corrective action.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from an accredited institution preferred. May accept in lieu of a degree either of the following: documented military mechanical training of at least 16 weeks or mechanical trade school certification which involves at least 30 semester hours of accredited study.
The ideal candidate will have an industrial maintenance background with a strong working maintenance knowledge of the operations performed within our business. Solid background in plant maintenance in a 24/7 operation. Proficient working knowledge of plant operations (Computerized Maintenance Management System - Enterprise Asset Management). Ability to demonstrate data collection/ basic analysis, and problem solving skills. This includes good written, oral communications, listening, and reading comprehension.
Experience in a milling industry environment highly preferred.
