SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY - Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objectve of position)
The epidemiologist is responsible for management of the infection control staff and the infection control programs at all Baptist Health hospitals and related services. The epidemiologist will guide the team in performing surveillance for infection risks to patients and staff, and developing improvement plans to reduce related infection risks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience
- MS in microbiology or epidemiology, or another public health related field, MPH. PhD is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in infection prevention, with 2 years infection control program management experience.
- Certification in infection control (CIC).
- Must possess language, math, and reasoning skills which allow for the analysis, interpretation, and valid conclusion to be made during data collection and during mechanical or scientific procedures. Must be able to effectively present gathered data, orally or in writing to management or regulatory agencies.
